FAQ
Why Should I Get a Fortress Screen System?
For years, we installed other screen systems for our customers, yet we would frequently experience operability issues. We set out to offer a better solution—a screen system that’s built to last, withstands harsh elements, and looks stunning. Thus, the Fortress was born. If you’re looking for the strongest screen system on the market at a fair price, choose the Fortress.
How Well does the Fortress Hold Up in Strong Wind?
The Fortress was built for durability. We tested the Fortress with winds up to 110 mph, ensuring stability even in extreme conditions. Whether it’s intense heat, heavy rain, or cold temperatures, the Fortress is designed to perform in any climate.
Can I Choose the Color & Fabric for My Screen?
Absolutely! Our goal is to ensure you are happy and satisfied with your screen system. We offer clear vinyl, shade screens, and insect screens, which can be used individually or combined to fit your needs. We also offer eight standard fabric colors, with custom colors available to fit your home or business’s aesthetic.
How Does the Screen Secure to the Ground to Keep Out Dirt & Insects?
Our Shade Fit technology allows us to custom cut the screen to match the slope of your patio, even if it is not level. When lowered, the bottom bar rests flush against the ground, preventing gaps and keeping out unwanted dirt & insects.
Can I Control My Screen with My Phone?
Yes! The motorized Fortress system pairs with the Bond or Bond Pro app, giving you the convenience to raise or lower your shade from anywhere, anytime.
Can I Use a BBQ Grill or Patio Heater Near My Shade?
Yes! Both a BBQ grill and a patio heater can be used near your Fortress Patio Shade. A grill can be used if the flame is at least 5 feet from the patio shade surface; a propane heater with a protective dome can be used at least 36 inches away from the patio shade surface.
Can I Have My Screen Lowered During Snow & Cold Weather?
Yes! Your Fortress Patio Shade is made to withstand the winter. In cold temperatures, you may experience the shade stopping and going back up 12 inches. This is due to material contraction—simply apply pressure to the bottom bar while lowering. During snow or ice, it is recommended to leave the shade closed until the rain or snow melts to prevent damage to the bristles on the bottom bar. If you plan to use the shade frequently during freezing wet weather, keep the shade open a few inches off the ground to prevent damage.
What Maintenance is Required for My New Shade?
The Fortress Patio Shade is, by design, a low maintenance system that doesn’t require more than an occasional rinse to keep it looking and operating great.
